From floor plan to first draft
Fire strategy AI
Guidex helps UK fire engineers reach a first draft of a fire strategy in their own company template. You stay in the loop from B1 to B5.
What Guidex helps you do
What is fire strategy AI?
Fire strategy AI is software that helps a fire engineer prepare a fire strategy report. Guidex reads your floor plans and the guidance you select, then helps you build the report section by section.
The result is a first draft for you to check, change and finish. Guidex does not sign off a building. That decision stays with the engineer.
From floor plan to first draft
- Set up the project. Enter the building type, height, use and occupancy, and choose the guidance that applies.
- Understand the layout. Upload the floor plans. Guidex maps the rooms, corridors and stairs, and traces the escape routes through to the exit.
- Catch design issues. Guidex reviews the layout against the guidance and flags design concerns as you go.
- Work through B1 to B5. Guidex treats each requirement with a human in the loop, so you can check and correct the work.
- Draft every section. Guidex drafts all the sections of the report for you to check.
- Add the figures. Mark up your drawings, and Guidex helps fit the marked-up figures into the report.
B1 to B5, one requirement at a time
- B1Warning and escape
- B2Internal linings
- B3Internal structure
- B4External fire spread
- B5Fire service access
| Part | Requirement | Typical topics |
|---|---|---|
| B1 | Means of warning and escape | Travel distances, escape stairs, protected corridors, refuges, evacuation strategy |
| B2 | Internal fire spread (linings) | Wall and ceiling linings |
| B3 | Internal fire spread (structure) | Fire resistance periods, compartmentation, cavity barriers, sprinkler provision |
| B4 | External fire spread | External wall build-up, cladding review |
| B5 | Access and facilities for the fire service | Fire service access |
These requirements come from Approved Document B on GOV.UK. New to this structure? Read our guide to B1 to B5 and what goes in a fire strategy report.
Your template, your wording
Every consultancy has its own report format. Guidex works with any company’s template.
It keeps the structure of the template, and it respects your legal wording and liability wording.
How Guidex controls hallucinations
A hallucination is an AI answer that looks right but is made up. In a fire strategy, that can be a clause that does not exist.
Guidex is built on a hallucination control model with a human-in-the-loop framework:
- It finds the relevant passages before it drafts anything.
- It drafts only from what it found.
- A separate pass checks each factual claim against the source.
- A claim that does not match is withheld.
- You can open the cited clause, table or figure and check the wording yourself.
See how the checks work. No AI tool can promise a perfect draft, so the engineer checks every one.
What stays with the engineer
- Guidex does not exercise engineering judgment.
- It does not perform the originator, check, review or approval functions on your report.
- It does not replace a competent person.
Questions about fire strategy AI
Can AI write a fire strategy?
AI can produce a first draft. A competent fire engineer must still check it, correct it and take responsibility for the final report. Guidex is built for that way of working.
Will Guidex use our report template?
Yes. Guidex works with any company’s template and respects its structure, legal wording and liability wording.
Which guidance does it read?
Only the guidance you select, such as Approved Document B or the British Standards you work to. It does not pull from the open web.
What happens to our project files?
Files you upload are stored encrypted and kept apart from every other organisation’s work. We do not use your work to train AI models. After your organisation’s subscription ends, its projects and documents are kept for 30 days and then deleted. See the privacy policy.
Guidex drafts. The engineer decides.
See it on your own project
The quickest way to judge Guidex is to point it at a building you already know and check its answers against your own.
